Sheboygan Days
August
5th-6th
2023
The brat day celebration was created on August 13th, 1953 on the 100th anniversary of the city of Sheboygan. This year, the goal is to bring the event back to its roots within the community! We are partnering with local businesses to develop an event for everyone. One of the biggest changes is bringing the celebration back down to 8th Street. The goal is to close the street between New York Avenue and Michigan Avenue. Those six blocks are going to be filled with musicians, vendors, activities, food, and more! Each business being directly affected by the closure is receiving first pick on a booth space in front of their shop. Other businesses that will be open during the event will have clear pathways to their door and signage to direct!
Our goal is to crowdfund the base of funds needed to establish the event. This is to give control back to the community in order to not rely on one large sponsor to make the decisions. The vendors chosen this year are going to be focused on local businesses, creators, and restaurants. On the day of, we are looking for organizations to volunteer to run activities and concessions. All proceeds will be donated accordingly to each organization based on the percentage of total hours worked by all. Each aspect is relying on community support to support the community! More information is being added to this website as it becomes available.

The event is being developed together by the community of Sheboygan, so your thoughts and opinions matter greatly!
What would you like to see at this year’s event?
Are there any performers you would want to see?
Do you have an idea for an activity?
Would you like to volunteer?
Please share any thoughts if you’d like!
why all of the changes?
In years past, this event along with many others have seen a steady decline and are being forgotten about. Do you remember Lakefest? Maybe Earthfest? These along with many others have been lost over time and our community is having fewer events to come together for. The goal is to hit the refresh button and work with the community to give our all, for our community.
It might be different to us now, but the base organization is modeled after the original concepts from the beginning in 1953. Aspects like moving the celebration back to 8th street, showcasing all bratwurst companies in the area, and more! After that, the plan is still growing and adjusted based on ideas from businesses and many excited sheboyganites!

Make a donation.
Rather than rely on one main sponsor for the event, we hope to raise the base funds for the event by crowdsourcing from the community. This gives more control of event decisions and spending allotment back to the community for this event. Doing so will also allow vendor booths to remain almost completely local!
